What if Flow Conditions Change?

What if flow conditions change?

A client with a highly erosive and corrosive mining application recently challenged our engineering team to improve the performance of their existing SlurryFlo control valve. With the request, the client provided all new flow conditions, the valve’s modulating history, and photos of the trim wear.

Due to our unique control valve design, the control element (seat plate) was re-designed to optimize the flow distribution. SAF engineers developed a multi-orifice plate design using CFD simulations, which better suited the new flow conditions. The result is a valve that has remained in service 2x longer than the previous design (which was developed for the client’s original flow conditions). There was no need to replace the entire valve, a quick trim replacement did the trick 👌
