Have you ever heard the saying; “you shouldn’t use a knife gate valve for control”?

Well it’s true; knife gates are not designed for such service. They’re still very popular though – they have a simple design, are relatively light and have a narrow profile.

We thought if we could combine these features with our control expertise; we’d have a winner… so we went for it. A few research and development years later, we introduced a valve that looks similar to a knife gate, yet provides superior flow control, exceptional performance and a quantum leap in service life.

SlurryFlo’s innovative patented gate design and custom engineered bore liners are the new benchmark for control!

Knife gate valves    VS    SlurryFlo valves

Conventional knife gate valves work very well for on/off control. However, when used in throttling applications they perform poorly and often fail very quickly.

Here’s why;

1)
The exposed chest area promotes particle buildup, turbulence and excessive wear.

2)
When throttling, the acute angles created between the gate and body generate high velocities, which accelerates wear.

3)
Valve gate deflects flow towards the downstream pipe wall, decreasing its life.

SlurryFlo’s concave gate design protects the valve chest area from abrasive media and prevents particle buildup. The gate also works with our unique trim designs to direct flow towards the centre of the pipe. These features significantly reduce valve and downstream pipe erosion, providing a quantum leap in service life.

SlurryFlo can provide special coatings on all wear components to enhance performance in difficult applications. Wear components are also field replaceable, further extending the valve’s lifespan.
